Duke beat Carolina, in new U.S. News and World Report ranking of hospitals. Duke University Medical Center made the top 10 nationally and was ranked as the best in North Carolina.

The survey also boosts UNC Hospitals, which has a management agreement (and new branding as UNC Health Care) with Pardee Hospital.

The magazine ranked UNC in the top 3 percent of hospitals nationally.
