City Council rezones two parcels

Pat's School of Dance plans to expand its studio.

The Hendersonville City Council rezoned two parcels to more permissive designations during its regular meeting last week.

The council approved a change in zoning from R-20 Low Density Residential to R-15 Medium Density Residential for a half-acre parcel owned by Ben Campen at the corner of Brevard Road and Westbrook Road.
The board also rezoned the Pat's Dance Studio property on North Main Street from R-6 High Density Residential to C-4 Neighborhood Commercial. Property owners John and Pat Shepherd said they needed the rezoning for the 1.1-acre parcel at 1256 N. Main St. to expand their business.
John Shepherd told the council that the family plans to expand the 3,800-square-foot studio by 1,000 square feet. Mayor Barbara Volk reminded the parties that rezoning actions run with the land and that any uses permitted by right in the district would be allowed.
