Farm workshop covers GAP regs

Henderson County Cooperative Extension Service will hold workshops next month on how farms can reduce food safety risks and meet marketing requirements.
The two-part Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) workshop will address how farms of all sizes can achieve USDA GAP certification. The workshop will present information on principles of fresh produce safety and on-farm hazard assessment and provide assistance with creating a produce farm safety plan.
The workshops will be held at the Henderson County Extension Office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 5 and Nov. 19. If a farm is already GAP-certified the first day will meet the update portion of the annual certification. The second day will be writing the food safety plan for the farm of any size.
To register email Ivy_Olson@ncsu.edu or craig_mauney@ncsu.edu or call 828-697-4891. Cost for both: $50. Session 1 only: $35. Session 2 only: $15. The fee includes GAP workbook and lunch.
