Playhouse transforming space into Santa's shop

Flat Rock Playhouse scene designers build a giant Connect 4 game for Santa's toy shop.

Flat Rock Playhouse is transforming the lobby of the Playhouse Downtown into Santa's Toy Shoppe on Friday during Hendersonville's Old Fashioned Christmas.

From 5 to 8 p.m., families are encouraged to come play with oversized toys and games, while enjoying complimentary hot chocolate and listening to readings of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," which actors will read every half hour.

The technical team that makes the Playhouse's creative sets has created several oversized games including Jenga, Connect Four, Backgammon and "O-bear-ation," a downtown Hendersonville version of Operation.

Santa's Toy Shoppe is open to the public and free to visit and play. During the rest of the holiday season, visitors are welcome to explore the downtown lobby during normal box office hours, which are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
