NRA endorses McDonald

Sheriff Charlie McDonald has received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association-Political Victory Fund in the Nov. 4 election.

His campaign said the incumbent Republican had demonstrated his support of the Second Amendment by streamlining the pistol purchase permit process at the Sheriff's Office, providing online application options and shortening the turnaround time for applications. He is a staunch advocate of the concealed carry provisions of North Carolina, the campaign said.
"I appreciate the National Rifle Association for its commitment to educate citizens and in helping defend our citizens right to keep and bear arms," he said in a statement. "I especially appreciate their recognition of my record of support of Second Amendment rights through this endorsement."
