Local readers like local authors

The top-selling books in 2014 at Hendersonville's bookstore tilted overwhelmingly to local and regional authors.
The Fountainhead on Main Street has tallied its top sellers of 2014.

"As always, Hendersonville loves to support its local and regional authors, and there is a surprise hit on the list too," bookstore owner Valerie Welbourn said in a news release. "Five of the top titles are by local authors, and another four are by regional authors."
Here's the list, with Welbourn's comments:
1. Miss Julia's Marvelous Makeover. No surprise here. We are hardcore Miss Julia fans!
2. Bearwallow. This excellent debut by Jeremy B. Jones is about our own Bearwallow Mountain.
3. Etta Mae's Worst Bad-Luck Day. Another entry by Ann B. Ross features Etta Mae, a character from the Miss Julia series.
4. One Apple at a Time. Debut work by local author and farmer, Evan Williams. Poignant descriptions of rural life in Henderson County.
5. Summer Wind. The second installment in a trilogy by Mary Alice Monroe
6. It comes in Waves. Set mainly in Folly Beach, we hosted the launch for Erika Mark's newest novel.
7. Nora Bonesteel's Christmas Past. Sharyn McCrumb came and talked about her new novella this past fall.
8. Snicker of Magic. Fantastic book by Natalie Lloyd about a young girl and a small southern town. This is the only Tween book on our Top 10 List.
9. Dream of Saint Ursula. Our own Ken Butcher came out with his much-awaited for second novel.
10. Yellow Eyes of Crocodiles. Translated from French, this novel was a surprise under-the-radar hit.
