The suspect was driving a 2011 white four-door Buick Lucerne with North Carolina tag WNY-8940. The car headed west on N.C. 280 toward Brevard.
The sheriff’s department identified the Corey Aaron Leach.

Sheriff Charlie McDonald reminded citizens to be vigilant at all times.
“Criminals look for the opportunity to commit a crime, it is up to every individual to prepare for and otherwise prevent the opportune time where criminals prey on victims. We as individuals can accomplish this by securing all hand bags at all times, whether concealed in a locked compartment in a vehicle or secured to the shopping cart. Additionally, lock your vehicles at all times. The majority of all car break-ins occur when the door is unlocked. Taking extra precautionary measures will decrease the likelihood of being victimized by simply preventing the opportunity.”
