West High student stacking up world records

A 14-year-old West Henderson High School student continues to distinguish himself with his lightning fast Sport Stacking.

Josh Hainsel, the son of Bryan and Andrea Hainsel, started out hot in the 2015 season and just got hotter — and faster. He earned his second Guinness World Record at the Great Lakes Regional of the World Sport Stacking Association on Feb. 28 in Connersville, Ind.
The West High freshman won his first world record last June in the cycle, a series of three stacking events. This time he broke the world record in the 3-6-3. He earned the record with a time of 1.840 seconds, a significant improvement over the previous best of 1.861 seconds.
Then last weekend the globetrotting teenager competed in the national sport stacking championship in Seattle.
"Josh had his best tournament ever and is the 2015 U.S. National Champion," Andrea Hainsel said in an email.
In three competitions, he set personal bests in tournament times in the 3-3-3 and Cycle. Both are now world records for boys in the 13-14 division. Josh's combined time of 8.585 was 0.419 seconds quicker than the runner-up's time.
"While that doesn't sound like a lot, in stacking that is a pretty good margin," Mrs. Hainel said. "His relay team (Stacktastic Four) also set a new 16u division World Record."
Josh competes next at the World Championships in Montreal in April.
