WLOS anchor accepts Park Ridge job

WLOS-TV morning and noon anchor Victoria Dunkle has left the television station after 12 years to take the position as communications director at Park Ridge Health.

"I will always remember the opportunities to meet and interview interesting people," Dunkle said on the station's website. "From the celebrities — Henry Winkler congratulating me on the birth of Gus, to Kermit the Frog and making Miss Piggy jealous over my admiration of Kermit's news credentials (Sesame Street News) — to the local people who have amazing stories and commitment to the community. The opportunity to tell people's stories is one of the key reasons I wanted to be in television news."
Dunkle said in an interview it was "a tough decision" to leave television news but she found the Park Ridge situation appealing for this stage in her life.
"Along with being the voice and print person for media I'll also be looking to expand and grow internal and external communications," she said.
The decision to leave a job she loved had a lot to do with family and her children, ages 8 and 10, growing older.
"When you get up at 20 to 3 in the morning, I was going to bed around 8:30," she said. "Their day is lasting longer now. This was a decision I made because I needed to do what's right for my life. And the good Lord opened up this awesome opportunity to move on and still be involved in the media and be able to give back."
