Twice postponed tourism conference needs 'a snow date for the snow date'

The Henderson County Tourism Conference has been canceled for the second time in five days because of the snowstorm.

The conference had been scheduled originally for last Thursday. It was called off that day because of the light snow on Wednesday afternoon and moved to the snow date, which was Tuesday. That had to be called off because Blue Ridge Community College, the site of the conference, is on a delayed schedule.
“I guess we need a snow date for the snow date,” said Karen Baker, assistant director of the Tourism Development Authority. The TDA is looking for a date in February or March for a third try.
The conference was to include a review of the 2015 tourism season, a keynote address by Steve Morse, associate professor of hospitality and tourism at Western Carolina University on "The Top 3 Reasons Why Tourism is Important to Henderson County Economic Development," and breakout sessions on partnering with other hospitality businesses, agri-tourism, social media and other topics.
