Sage Gourmet under new ownership

Sage Gourmet owners Chrissy Filka and Laurie Bakke have sold their business on Main Street.

The new owners are Merit Brand Wolff and Bill Berry, longtime Hendersonville residents. The shop’s name will change slightly to Sage, Wine and Gourmet.

“As of March 1, Sage Gourmet will be Sage, Wine and Gourmet. We have sold our business to Merit Brand Wolff and Bill Berry. We are so excited to see Merit take our concept of a ‘vibrant kitchen store and wine cellar’ to the next level,” Filka and Bakke said in their email announcement late Wednesday. “We couldn't ask for a better steward for our vision for this shop.”

They said they will help with the transition over the next couple of weeks. Current employees will continue to be an “integral part of store operations,” they said.
The 2-4-30 Wine Club, Adventure Cooks Cookbook Club and the Greek Wine Tasting event on March 16 will continue as planned.

“We invite you to stop in Monday through Saturday, from 10:00 - 5:30 to meet and welcome Merit to our great food and wine loving community,” Filka and Bakke said.
The women said they will be starting a cooking class series in the kitchen soon and will help with special events in the cellar.

“We thank you for the opportunity to serve you over the past three and a half years. You all have been the best customers and many of you have become friends,” they said. “We have loved cooking for you, stocking the store and cellar for you and most of all, drinking great wines with you.”

Sage Gourmet is at 416 N. Main Street.
