SROs complete school for keeping campus safe

More than a dozen officers completed the Basic School Resource Officer’s course hosted by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Blue Ridge Community College.

The 40-hour course educates the Deputy/Officer on the role of an SRO, while laying a strong foundation for a variety of aspects they may experience during a school assignment.  While a large portion of the participants were from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies also participated from Buncombe, Polk and Transylvania counties, as well as officers from the Hendersonville Police Department.

School security and the safety of our children is a commitment Henderson County Sheriff Lowell Griffin takes very seriously, the sheriff's office said in a news release. His goal is to provide the best trained, best equipped officers to ensure the safest learning environment possible as the 2019-2020 school year gets underway.
