Schools distribute hard-copy lesson plans Monday; spring break intact

With schools remaining closed for in-person instruction until at least May 15, the Henderson County school system on Tuesday advised students and parents how to pick up lesson plans, announced updated Meals on the Bus stops and announced that spring break would remain April 13-17.

Here's the latest from the schools:

Learn from Home

For traditional calendar students, instructional materials for the next 2 week period will be distributed Monday, March 30. While new materials will be distributed from schools to families during drive-by pickup, no completed student work or materials will be collected by staff at this time.
Traditional calendar schools will be open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 30, for students and families to pick up physical instructional materials. This includes assignment bags for K-2 students, and paper and text-based alternative assignments for students of any grade level not accessing Learn from Home digitally.
Students in grades 3-12 accessing Learn from Home digitally do not need to come by their schools; instead, they should continue to check their HCPS email accounts or Google classroom for instructional updates from their teachers.
Students in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades who wish to borrow a device may also do so on Monday while schools are open for material pickup. Families should complete a Technology Survey for each of their enrolled K-2 children wanting to borrow a device. School-specific surveys are accessible at this link or on each school’s website homepage.
And remember, we’re here to help with Learn from Home troubleshooting. First, reach out directly to your child’s teacher. If additional support with Learn from Home is needed, email the Help Desk at LearnFromHome@hcpsnc.org.

End Term Grades & Spring Break

End Term grades will be available on Friday, March 27 via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If parents/guardians do not have access to the Parent Portal, they should call their child’s school to set up a login, or request that a copy of the term grades be mailed home. Spring break will remain April 13-17 for all schools – which means students and staff will enjoy their break from lessons as planned.
