Pick-Your-Own Apples & more

at Our Family Farm

Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard is a fourth generation working farm and pick-your-own orchard. The Stepp family invites you to spend a day on our 100-acre farm amid our apple orchard on the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina just outside Historic Hendersonville, near Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Our opening and closing times are crop and weather dependent, but generally you will find us ready for pick-your-own guests from mid-August to the end of October. Please check our social media for updates throughout the season.

Tulip season will start on Friday, March 22, 2024.
Our spring hours are Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Please check social media for more updates.

No admission is charged. You pay for what you pick, buy or do. Alcohol products are not allowed.

Our 40 acres of apple orchard, one of Henderson County’s first pick-your-own orchards, has 26 apple varieties.

Pick your own apples from our 6 orchards, using our WishTrip app to navigate to the orchard to your favorite ripened variety of apple. Download the WishTrip on your mobile device here.

For our customers not using the WishTrip app, please use directional signs at the end of the apple rows to find your favorite variety. Look for “Ready to Pick” signs at the end of rows that tell you that the apples are ripe and ready for picking.

We provide boxes or baskets for your picking.

Weekend Family FunAlong with our pick-your-own crops, we provide weekend family fun. There is a 5-acre corn maze to explore, an apple cannon to target, a jump pad, and wagon rides. We encourage you to bring a picnic and enjoy our picnic area by the orchard or visit the food trucks available on some weekends.

Dog Friendly

Walk your dog on a leash through acres of apple trees. Please clean up after them, throw their waste in the dumpster next to the picnic shed or trash cans, and monitor their behavior. Pets are welcome everywhere on the farm except in the Apple House and on the wagon rides.

North Carolina Apple Festival

Hendersonville’s Apple Festival, held annually on Labor Day Weekend to celebrate the apple crop, is a special event for our farm. Visit us at our booth near the Historic Courthouse that weekend for apples, apple cider slushies, apple cider donuts from our own bakery or come see us at the farm.
