Playhouse to stage two shows this fall with strict precautions in place

The Flat Rock Playhouse will stage two productions this fall with conditions that require patrons wear masks and show proof of coronavirus vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test, the theater's producing artistic director, Lisa K. Bryant, and its president, Joseph Ippolito, announced to patrons on Monday.

In an email to theater ticket-buyers, Bryant and Ippolito said that the "smashing success" of "The Music of Queen," the sold-out outdoor stadium concert at West Henderson High School "left everyone at the Playhouse eager to host each of you back on the Rock."

Here is the email to patrons:

We look forward to announcing two productions coming this fall so keep your eyes open for that exciting news. Before that, however, we are bringing you an update on new health and safety protocols for FRP, in addition to those already in place, which you can read about HERE. As previously announced, masks will be required for all performances.

Given the current spike in Covid cases locally and regionally, Flat Rock Playhouse will require that patrons show either:

  • Proof of your Covid-19 vaccination (12 years and older), or
  • Proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within the 72 hours prior to the performance start time, or
  • A negative Covid-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time.
  • All children 11 and under will show proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within the 72 hours (or antigen test taken within 6 hours) prior to the performance start time and wear a mask at all times indoors.

In accordance with these protocols, all guests 18 and older must present a valid photo ID along with their proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test.

This decision is consistent with requirements at professional regional theatres across the country as well as Broadway. In our most recent survey, patrons indicated that the number one thing that would make them feel more comfortable returning to FRP is for us to offer vaccinated-only performances, and/or proof of negative COVID-19 test. We understand many of you will appreciate this decision; some may not. Either way, we have made these difficult decisions to best ensure the health and safety of the patrons, artists, staff and crew, which is the Playhouse’s top priority.

Once tickets have been purchased, guests will receive further details on how to confirm their vaccination/negative COVID test status prior to their show date.

Flat Rock Playhouse will continue to pay attention to local/state/national guidelines and will reevaluate procedures as needed.

We wish to thank you once again for your unwavering support of the Playhouse these last 19 months. Your gifts, sponsorships, and ticket donations have allowed us to get through this difficult period and our gratitude knows no bounds. We can hardly wait to see you back on The Rock soon.
