White Squirrel Festival celebrates unusual rodent

BREVARD — "Go Nuts" at the 10th annual White Squirrel Festival Friday through Sunday, May 24-26, in downtown Brevard.


Festivities begin Saturday with a Memorial Day Parade at 9 a.m. and the presentation of the wreath at 10 a.m. at the Gazebo. The street festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The weekend includes music, crafts, the sixth annual 5K/10K White Squirrel Race, the seventh annual Squirrel Box Derby and lots of food.
Named one of the best spring music festivals around, the White Squirrel Festival gets the tunes cranked up at 7 p.m. Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday. Included in the lineup of entertainers this year is Jupiter Coyote and Sol Driven Train on Friday, Acoustic Syndicate on Saturday and Shannon Whitworth on Sunday.
