'Celtic Christmas' opens Thursday at Playhouse Downtown

Fiddler Ryan Guerra performs with members of the Flat Rock Chorus in “A Celtic Christmas” at the Playhouse Downtown.

Music on the Rock presents A Celtic Christmas, opening Thursday and playing through Dec. 18 at the Flat Rock Playhouse Downtown.

Traditional carols like “Silent Night,” “I Saw Three Ships,” “The Little Drummer Boy,” “O Holy Night” and many more get the Celtic treatment in a one-of-a-kind Christmas spectacular. Singing the songs of the season as the singer/storytellers are Ryan Dunn, Katherine Taylor and Michaela Tomcho backed by a magnificent choir of voices. Diane David leads a chorus of 19 men and women to round out the Christmas show.
Sharing the stage as the house band are Ryan Guerra on violin, Bill Altman on guitar, Alex Shields on piano, Paul Babelay on drums, David Gaines on synth and Sara Nichols on bass.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $28 and can be purchased by calling the Playhouse box office at 828-693-0731 or visiting www.flatrockplayhouse.org.
