Apple Festival names parade grand marshal (2)

Dan Fowler, a longtime North Carolina Apple Festival leader and volunteer, has been named grand marshal of the 2016 King Apple Parade. The parade will be held on Labor Day, which is September 5, 2016, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Each year, the Apple Festival Board of Directors selects a person to honor as the grand marshal. The board chose to honor Fowler for his many years of service to the festival including two terms as president.

The board also is inviting the community to participate in this year’s King Apple Parade. The parade has different categories including commercial and non-profit entries. Professional floats are available for lease. If you are interested in a professional float, please contact the office at 828-697-4557. Applications to participate in the Parade are available at ncapplefestival.org under the parade tab. The cutoff date for entries is Aug. 26.
