NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mills River Town Council will hold a Legislative Public Hearing on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Mills River Town Hall, 124 Town Center Drive, Mills River, North Carolina 28759.
The purpose of said Public Hearing is to receive public comment on the consideration and proposed adoption of a new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) for the Town of Mills River, with an updated zoning map reflecting changes in zoning district names. The proposed Unified Development Ordinance consolidates and replaces existing development regulations, zoning district provisions, and land use standards into a single, comprehensive regulatory document governing land use and development within the corporate limits of the Town of Mills River.
The proposed Unified Development Ordinance addresses, among other matters: zoning districts and permitted uses; dimensional standards and development regulations; subdivision regulations; sign regulations; stormwater and environmental standards; nonconforming uses and structures; and administrative procedures and enforcement.
Copies of the proposed Unified Development Ordinance are available for public inspection at Mills River Town Hall.
All interested persons are invited and encouraged to attend said Public Hearing and will be afforded an opportunity to be heard. Pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 160D-601 and applicable provisions of the North Carolina General Statutes, the Mills River Town Council shall hold this Public Hearing prior to adopting, amending, or repealing any zoning or land development regulation. This notice is published pursuant to the requirements of North Carolina law.
