Bob G. Sherman, age 85

Bob G. Sherman, age 85 of Hendersonville died Monday, April 13, 2015 in Paducah, Kentucky. Mr. Sherman was born September 1, 1929 in Henderson County, the son of the late James Dewey Sherman and Zetta Guice Sherman.

Mr. Sherman graduated from Flat Rock High School and attended the University of Georgia. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Furman University. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Hendersonville, in addition to holding several senior management positions in financial institutions in Kentucky and Florida. He was a charter member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers of Henderson County and served as Director, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Board of Directors of Pardee Hospital as Treasurer. He won Man of the Year Award for his years of service, business, church, and civic activities as well as Lion of the Year Award with the Lions Club. Mr. Sherman proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Janice M. Sherman of the home; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve M. and Janet Sherman of Chattanooga, TN, and Greg D. and Dawn Sherman of Bozeman, MT; his two grandchildren, Daniel Sherman of East Ridge, TN, and Taylor Sherman of Cleveland, TN; his step-grandchildren; Stephen Gunter and Sarah Gunter, both of Chattanooga, TN; and his sister, Sarah S. Taylor of Hendersonville.

The funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Thos. Shepherd’s Church Street Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Greg T. Mathis officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oakdale Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. prior to the service.
