James Huston Toms was born in Buncombe County, NC on November 29, 1945 to Marion Frederick Toms, Sr and Joy Wellford Toms. He passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, June 5th, 2026 in Hendersonville NC.
Jim attended Hendersonville High School and Bob Jones Academy as well as Bob Jones University and law school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, transferring to Duke Law School where he graduated with Juris Doctor degree in 1968.
He was married to Susan Beliveau for 58 years.

Betty Nanney
Betty Jean Rhymer Nanney passed away May 22, 2026, at the Care Center at Carolina Village, Hendersonville, NC. She was 91 and had been undergoing a period of declining health for several months.
Betty Jean was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to countless others lucky enough to have known her.
Born March 15, 1935 in Fruitland, NC in the Edneyville community at her family home, she was surrounded by a loving family which included her Mother, Eliza Green Rhymer, her Father, Edgar William Rhymer, her brother, William Raymond of Sarcoxie Mo, (Mary), and her sisters, Evelyn (Jim Wheelon), Katherine (Kermit Edney),
Hazel (William Burch), all of Hendersonville. She had 31 nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
