No big roads here in $3 billion bond issue

Gov. Pat McCrory’s proposed $3 billion bond issue for roads and new state buildings contains no major road projects in Henderson County but does contain money for the improvements at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, Chimney Rock State Park and Gorges State Park.

His list of proposed work included $1 million for restroom and site improvements at the Ag Center, $2 million for improvements to Chimney Rock State Park and $3.3 million for improvements to Gorges State Park in Transylvania County, according to a report by Carolina Public Press.
The biggest projects in Western North Carolina were $13 million for a new state medical examiners office in Asheville and $115 million for a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) facility at Western Carolina University.
