Police organization endorses Katz, Wood

The Mountain Chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association has endorsed Democrats Marty Katz for sheriff and Rick Wood for Senate District 48 after candidate screenings, the PBA said.

"During the interview process, demonstrated why their experience and values make them uniquely qualified to represent the voters of Henderson County and Senate District 48," the PBA said.

"Marty Katz and Rick Wood are deeply rooted in the community today and the Mountain Chapter is proud to put our full support behind them and we ask that you do the same," North Carolina PBA Mountain Chapter Brandon McGaha said in a statement. "A vote for Marty Katz and Rick Wood is a vote for the men and women of law enforcement and the citizens they serve."

Katz faces incumbent Sheriff Charlie McDonald and Wood is challenging state Sen. Tom Apodaca in the Nov. 4 election.
