First Presbyterian names new director of ministry

First Prebyterian Church of Hendersonville has named a new director of ministry.

The Rev. David Garrison will assume the post effective Jan. 15, the Rev. Bill Campbell announced.

Garrison will focus on youth ministry, including a liaison role with the new Boy Scout troop, oversight of the King Street contemporary worship and young family ministries and Christian Education in general, the church said.
He had previously served for seven years as co-pastor for Emerging Ministries at Southminster
Presbyterian Church in Crestwood, Mo.
Other experience includes Associate Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Anchorage, Alaska, and youth
director at Woodbury Presbyterian in Orlando, Fla., and First Presbyterian in Midland, Ohio. He served
as Multimedia Technician at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando.
Garrison and his wife, Karey, have two children, Peter Allan, 9; and Mary Elizabeth, 7.

Currently affiliated with Prebyterian Church-USA, the congregation has voted to separate from that denomination and affiliate with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Garrison comes on board after the departure of associate pastor Carolyn Poteet, who took a ministry job at a college.
