LIGHTNING PHOTOS: YouTheatre's 'Charlotte's Web' opens Friday

Lanie Robertson stars as Charlotte.

Flat Rock Playhouse's YouTheatre will premiere its production of "Charlotte's Web" at 7 p.m. Friday at the Playhouse Downtown, 125 S. Main St.

This story about friendship is filled with enchanting characters: Wilbur, the rambunctious young pig who loves life; Fern, the girl who can understand animals; Templeton, the gluttonous rat; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and the extraordinary spider, Charlotte. The Children's Literature Association named Charlotte's Web "the best American children's book of the past two hundred years." The whole family will love the timeless tale of "some pig" and his word-spinning friend who launches a campaign to save him from the butcher.
The opening celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with "country fair"-themed appetizers, beverages and raffle items to benefit the YouTheatre Education Program.
Suggested donation is $10. A cash bar will be available.
The show runs through March 23. Tickets to the YouTheatre production are $18 for adults and $10 for students.
"Charlotte's Web" is presented by Park Ridge Health.
