County buys two new ambulances

First Citizens Bank submitted the winning bid to finance two ambulances and other medical equipment for $413,539 at 1.25 percent interest over four years, Henderson County's finance director said.

First Citizens underbid SunTrust (1.585 percent), BB&T (1.59 percent), TD Bank (1.61 percent) and PNC Bank (1.64 percent).
The Henderson County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 4 authorized the purchase of two ambulances to replace the final two that were under leases expiring next month. The county EMS department is also buying seven manual defibrillators to replace old ones "due to constant failure and repair of the equipment," a memorandum to the commissioners said.
The first payment of $106,636 will be due in December 2014. The county will pay $13,003 in interest over four years, county Finance Director Carey McLelland said. The Board of Commissioners approved the purchase and financing on Wednesday.
