PARK GLANCE: Tuxedo Community Park

County parks director Tim Hopkin and an advisory committee are planning Tuxedo Community Park.

Tuxedo Community Park

Size: 6.4 acres
Location: U.S. 225, site of the Tuxedo Mill, which was cleared to make room for the community park.
Status: Green River-Tuxedo-Zirconia park advisory committee is working with the county recreation department to plan the park and its amenities.
Cost: No cost estimates yet. There is no capital funding in the current Henderson County budget for the park. Community residents are working to raise money.
Quote: The county will develop the park "the same way the East Flat Rock and Etowah and Edneyville projects worked, basically as a joint community partnership," says county Recreation Director Tim Hopkin. "We're really working hard to meet and identify their needs. The plans would include playground equipment, shelter, restrooms, open fields, walking trails, tennis courts or basketball and of course parking."
