City invites public input on manager search

An executive search team will gather input Tuesday from community leaders, city employees and the public as the consultants prepare to write a job description and advertise for a new Hendersonville city manager.

The City Council retained Development Associates, an executive search firm from Chapel Hill, to guide  recruitment and hiring of a replacement for Bo Ferguson, who resigned last month to become deputy city manager in Durham. The search firm recommended public input in the process, which the council endorsed. Before it drafts the job profile, the firm will hear from the public.
Meetings will be held on the second floor of City Hall either in the council chambers or a conference room off the main lobby, depending on how many people show up. Development Associates representatives will conduct the meetings. The council has adopted a timetable with a goal of having a new manager on board in May.
The schedule for the input sessions:
• 8:30 a.m.: invited community leaders.
• 10:30 a.m.: department heads.
• 2 p.m.: city employees.
• 5:30 p.m.: public.
