Hearing on Etowah RV park postponed a month

Zoning administrator Matt Champion hands out copies of an order postponing a hearing on an application for an RV park at Etowah Valley Golf Resort.

The Henderson County Zoning Board of Adjustment on Wednesday postponed a hearing on an application to permit a 343-space RV park in the middle of Etowah Valley Golf and Resort to June 28.

County Attorney Russ Burrell recommended the motion to delay the hearing. Under state law, testimony before a zoning board of adjustment about land values can only be offered by a licensed appraiser, he said, and the applicant and opponents of the development have not had time to hire one.

The hearing is now scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, and also moved to Thomas Auditorium at BRCC to accommodate what's expected to be a large crowd of homeowners opposed to the development.
