STOREHOIUSE ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR NEW FACILITY
The Storehouse, established in May 2000, has outgrown its present facility, and is erecting a new 12,000 square foot building on Spartanburg Highway. The Storehouse is a Christ-centered food and hygiene pantry based out of a love for the members of this community who are less fortunate. Plans have been completed and the contract has been awarded to Cooper Construction. Construction will begin in Fall 2023 and is scheduled for completion in 2024.
A Capital Fund Drive will begin with an event at The Main Event at 125 South Main Street in Hendersonville. Event sponsors are Cooper Construction and The Main Event.
The Storehouse has experienced a 23% increase in required services over the past year. Over 65 volunteers assist in boxing and distributing food and hygiene products to needy families.
The Storehouse provides countywide delivery to over 65 seniors who do not have the ability to come to the center. These deliveries help seniors extend their budgets, filling in the gaps and assuring better nutrition.
Throughout the year the Storehouse partners with Henderson County Schools to help with school supplies and snacks, Blessings in Boxes for local children at Christmas, and Thanksgiving groceries for 35-40 families.
In 2022, the Storehouse helped 11,475 individuals (4,368 households).
Hunger is painful and impacts many of our local children, seniors and those struggling with sudden economic changes. Our food supply comes from individual donations and local food drives. We also use the resources of Manna Food Bank, part of Feeding America.
Financial donations are critical to meeting the increasing needs of our Henderson County neighbors. A $100 donation provides us with 667 pounds of food.
