Agency seeks increase in fair ticket price

The N.C. Board of Agriculture will be asked to raise the Mountain State Fair admission ticket price by a buck when it meets on Tuesday in Raleigh.

The Agriculture Department has asked for the $1 increase in admission prices for the Mountain State Fair, which runs Sept. 6-15 this year at the Western N.C. Agricultural Center in Fletcher. If approved, it would be the first increase in the Mountain State Fair's admission price since 2010.
The Board of Agriculture is a policymaking body that adopts regulations for many of the programs administered by the Agriculture Department. Its 10 members are appointed by the governor. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler serves as chairman of the board.
