Rainstorm forces postponement of NATO commemoration

Rainstorms on Sunday afternoon forced the Veterans United for Democracy to postpone its planned NATO flag display at the Historic Courthouse.

Veterans United for Democracy’s Team NATO now plans the NATO flag display for June 2. Details will be announced later.  The display of flags from NATO member nations commemorates the 75th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which was founded on April 4, 1949.

Veterans United for Democracy held its first flag display on April 7. Veterans and community supporters will hold flags representing the 32 NATO member nations of North America and Europe. The event will feature speakers on the role of NATO in the current geopolitical climate, the importance of solidarity between member nations and why supporting Ukraine is critical to maintaining international stability.

Veterans United for Democracy is a Hendersonville based coalition of veterans of all eras and service branches who support NATO and a strong relationship with our international allies.
