YMCA pool to reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday

The Henderson County YMCA pool will reopen Tuesday after workers repaired skylights and loose plaster that had started to fall from the ceiling.

The pool was closed Feb. 25 after three chunks of plaster fell from the ceiling. The first two chunks were small but when a large chunk fell into the pool YMCA director Tim DeViese made the decision to close the pool and order the ceiling fixed.
He said he decided to take the opportunity while the facility was closed to paint the walls, refinish the pool deck and add a second heater that will reduce the amount of time it takes to heat the water when the pool is drained and refilled. YMCA leaders will reopen the pool with a short ceremony at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
