The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Old Fanning Bridge Road at the intersection with N.C. 280 (Boylston Highway) near the Buncombe and Henderson county line at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 29, to construct road improvements for the new Sierra Nevada Brewery near the Asheville Airport. The road will be closed until June 21.
The work will involve widening, resurfacing, improving turn lanes, constructing a roundabout, adding curb and gutter and installing new storm drains.
During the closure, traffic should follow N.C. 280 (Boylston Highway) to N.C. 191 (Old Haywood Road) back to Old Fanning Bridge Road.
The total cost of the work is $1.08 million. Project contractors are Fletcher Grading of Arden and Harrison Construction Co. of Knoxville, Tenn.
