Sheetz opens Airport Road store this week

Sheetz, the fast-growing mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain, continues to expand its Western North Carolina footprint this week with the opening of a store at 21 Airport Park Road, Fletcher.

The store marks Sheetz’s second location in Buncombe County, following the opening of its Arden store in March. It also opened on Asheville Highway at I-26 and has received city zoning approval for a store on Upward Road at Ballenger Road in Hendersonville.

To celebrate the opening, Sheetz will host a special event beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, outside the store, where it will be joined by residents, representatives from local nonprofits and elected officials. During the celebration, Sheetz will offer giveaways, including $250 in Sheetz gift cards and Free Sheetz for a Year.

The store’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. The new location, which opens to the public at 8 a.m., will also welcome customers in the South Buncombe market by offering free self-serve coffee and soda all day Thursday.

Sheetz will present a special $2,500 donation to MANNA Food Bank during the grand opening event. Customers attending the grand opening celebration are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item to the nonprofit. The company will also present a $2,500 check to the Special Olympics of North Carolina at the grand opening event.

Sheetz serves breakfast-all-day favorites, subs, sandwiches, pizza, chicken, salads, cold brew, milkshakes, smoothies and specialty drinks. The new location will feature drive-thru service, indoor and outdoor seating, expanded grocery options, touch-free restrooms and free Wi-Fi and air.
