DSS board appoints interim director

The Henderson County Board of Social Services on Mondayappointed a top department deputy as interim director of the agency from Aug. 1 until a new director starts.

Jerrie McFalls, the work services program administrator, will serve until a new director comes on board. Liston Smith, the current director, announced in June that he is retiring. The Social Services board is conducting interviews with finalists for the post.
