The N.C. Department of Transportation will close lanes in both directions of Interstate 26 at Exit 49 (Hendersonville/Bat Cave/U.S. 64) for bridge maintenance and repairs from Sunday, Aug. 25, until the morning of Friday, Sept. 6, weather permitting.
During the work on the interchange bridge, one lane will be closed in both directions from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday nights through Thursday nights.
The work is part of a $1.8 million project to clean and paint 10 bridges, including six in Henderson County, three in Polk County and one in Haywood County. Some structural repairs will be performed along with the painting. Project contractor is Astron General Contracting of Jacksonville.
