DeViese resigns as YMCA executive director

Tim DeViese, executive director of the Henderson County YMCA for the past 13 months, has resigned to return to Jacksonville, Fla. The YMCA of Western North Carolina will look nationally for a new director of the Hendersonville branch, the organization said in a statement.
"Tim DeViese will be resigning from his position as Executive Community Director of the Hendersonville Family YMCA effective September 30, 2013," the YMCA of WNC statement said. "Over the past year, Tim and his team have accomplished many goals and placed the Hendersonville Center on track to become an integral community partner serving the area.
"Tim is ready to move on to other challenges that advance him toward his long-term professional goals. He is honored to have been part of such a wonderful community and to have developed so many new friendships. The YMCA is sincerely appreciative of his dedication, service, and contributions to the YMCA of Western North Carolina. The YMCA will be conducting a national search to find a replacement for the vacated position."
DeViese, 55, declined to be interviewed about specifics, deferring to the statement the Asheville administrators released.
Kiki Matthews, the chairman of the Hendersonville YMCA advisory board, said YMCA-WNC CEO Paul Vest and Chief Operating Officer John Mikos would make the decision on staffing.
"YMCA of Western North Carolina is responsible for the hiring," she said.
DeViese's wife, a hospital dietary director, had not moved to Hendersonville. A native of Titusville, Fla., DeViese came to Hendersonville from the YMCA in Jacksonville, Fla.
Besides the Hendersonville facility, the YMCA of WNC operates the downtown Asheville YMCA, the Reuters Family YMCA in Biltmore Park and branches in Marion and Woodfin. It is opening a facility next spring at the new Mission Pardee Health Campus in Fletcher in partnership with Pardee Hospital.
