Health board names interim director

The Henderson County Board of Public Health has named Betsy Alexander the interim public health director beginning Monday.

Alexander currently serves as the Public Health Nursing Director. She has worked for Henderson County Public Health for 15 years.

"I am very honored to have been chosen for this position," she said. "During this time I hope to maintain the high standards that Tom has achieved during his leadership."

The board made the appointment on Wednesday.

In September Tom Bridges announced his plans to retire effective Dec. 1 after more than 38 years in public service including 15 years as Henderson County's director of public health.
