McCrory names NHHS teacher to advisory committee

Gov. Pat McCrory has appointed North Henderson High School U.S. history teacher Dot Case to the new Governor's Teacher Advisory Committee.

Case, who has taught in Henderson County schools for 44 years, was named the county's teacher of the year in 2009 and was chosen as a regional Teacher of the Year. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Appalachian State University, and her master's in education from Western Carolina University.
The committee, made up of 24 teachers from across the state, will advise the governor on improving student outcomes, compensating teachers and recognizing innovative schools as well as other education matters. McCrory will lead the committee's first meeting on Tuesday in Cary.
