Companies seek tax incentives for adding 27 jobs

Two Henderson County plants could receive tax incentives totaling $98,470 for expansions that would 27 new jobs. The Henderson County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings and take up the requests during a regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 17.


Elkamet Inc., which makes parts for the automotive and lighting industries at its plant in East Flat Rock, plans to invest $2.5 million in equipment. As an incentive, the Board of Commissioners will consider granting first-year tax incentive of $8,988 for a total of up to $42,693 over seven years.
Mona Lisa, a specialty chocolate maker in Edneyville, plans to invest $2.2 million in real property and $2 million in equipment for an expansion that would add 12 jobs.
The Board of Commissioners will take up a request from the Partnership for Economic Development for $55,776.96 in incentives over four years, with up to $15,099 the first year. A unit of Barry Callebaut U.S.A., Mona Lisa makes chocolate cups and chocolate decorations for the food service industry, retail shops and its mail order business.
