City, ECO join to give out recycling bins

The city of Hendersonville will give out 550 recycling bins to 21 Henderson County public schools and the Henderson County Boys and Girls Club in a joint project developed by the city's Environmental Sustainability Board and the Environmental Conservation Organization.

ECO proposed the idea of donating the old recycling bins to local schools and non-profits. The old bins became surplus when the city replaced them with rollout carts to increase recycling. On March 6, the Hendersonville City Council approved a resolution allowing the donation of the recycling bins. Beginning Tuesday, members from the City of Hendersonville's Environmental Sustainability Board and members from Environmental Conservation Organization began distributing the plastic bins.
