Georgia man charged with vandalizing school, church

EDNEYVILLE — A quick response by officers from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office led to the arrest of a 19-year-old Georgia man who vandalized Edneyville Elementary School and a church, the department said in a news release.

Deputies responded to an alarm at the school on Pace Road around 10 Thursday night. As officers neared the school they discovered a white male wearing dark pants and a gray hoodie walking toward U.S. 64 East. Deputies detained and later arrested the man,

Ian Traxler Nelson of Dublin, Ga.

Traxler admitted to breaking and entering into the elementary school and discharging two fire extinguishers on the gymnasium floor, the news release said. He also admitted hurling a cinder block through the window of Kings Grove Baptist Church across the street from the school. Officers charged Traxler with two misdemeanor counts of injury to real property and one count of misdemeanor breaking and entering. Traxler is currently incarcerated in the Henderson County Detention Facility under a $2,000 secured bond.
