Five wineries featured Saturday at WNC Mountain Wine Festival

The second annual WNC Mountain Wine Festival this weekend features five wineries, a lineup of musical guests and food.

The wine festival, from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mountain Inn and Suites of Flat Rock at 42 McMurray Road, this year includes host sponsor Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards of Hendersonville, the Biltmore Winery, Mountain Brook Vineyards and Parker Binns Vineyard of Polk County, and Laurel Gray Vineyards in the Yadkin Valley.
"Our goal is to educate people about wine and viticulture," said Saint Paul owner Alan Ward. "We have some excellent examples of mountain-produced wine from grapes grown at higher elevations."
Participating wineries will offer wine tastings, and the event also includes hors d'oeuvres and a souvenir wineglass. Live music will be performed by Ellen Trnka, Carrie Morrison and Steve Whiteside.
