Asheville's 'Idol' finalist rocks out again

Caleb Johnson.

Caleb Johnson, the 23-year-old Asheville native and Erwin High School, killed it again on Wednesday night's American Idol show, getting a huge ovation from the Hollywood audience and kudos from the three judges.

At the tail end of his performance of a song chosen by Asheville fans — Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused" — Johnson slammed the microphone stand on the stage floor and rocked out in a crescendo that brought the crowd to its feet.
"It's insane. Absolutely insane," country music star Keith Urban exclaimed after Johnson's performance. "I wanna throw stuff."
Jennifer Lopez added: "That was a true Idol moment."

Despite losing his voice during his weekend homecoming trip to Asheville, Johnson delivered a rousing performance.
"It was awesome, man," said Harry Connick Jr., the toughest judge on the panel. "This show is all about opportunities and taking advantage of the opportunities. It was absolutely fantastic."

Last week Johnson made the top three in worldwide voting for the popular show. The top two will be revealed in Thursday night's show.
