TDA approves $30,000 in grants

The Henderson County Tourism Development Authority announced grants totaling $30,000 for events that draw visitors to Henderson County and generate tourism revenue.

A total of 22 organizations applied for a total of $65,421.The grant money is for the fiscal year starting July 1.

The TDA makes the grants to encourage the creation or expansion of special events and programs that bring visitors from more than 40 miles away to Henderson County and encourage overnight stays, thus stimulating spending and boosting the local economy. Advertising from grant funding must be placed in media outlets at least 40 miles outside of Henderson County.
