Fourth of July parade called off

This year's Fourth of July Parade has been canceled.

The Hendersonville Merchants and Business Association called off this year's Fourth of July Parade for lack of interest.

The parade was scheduled for Friday, July 4.
"They didn't have enough entries," said Don Holder, a board member of the association. "As of today, they just had a handful, literally just a handful."
The association had called for entries with the theme Celebrate Freedom! Entries were to be family friendly and decorated in red white and blue.
The merchants association had recently revived the Fourth of July tradition after a hiatus of several years.
Holder said the association officers were in the process of contacting those who had signed up to let them know of the decision. "Fees that have been paid will be refunded," he said.
