Kruger Brothers to play at Free Clinics fundraiser

The Kruger Brothers 'are nothing short of magnificent,' the Bluegrass Journal says.

The Free Clinics will welcome the world-renowned bluegrass trio The Kruger Brothers back to Champion Hills for the 11th annual Summer Bluegrass Concert on Aug. 17. All proceeds from the concert will help the Free Clinics provide healthcare for those in need in Henderson and Polk counties.

The concert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17 at the Champion Hills Clubhouse, and will be followed by a light supper buffet.

The Kruger Brothers' music is a highly regarded and unique blend of bluegrass, folk, and classical elements. The trio was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts grant for Music from the Spring, a symphonic suite which premiered in 2007. Their latest album, Spirit of the Rockies, was inspired by both the beauty and the stories of the Canadian Rockies.

Originally from Switzerland, Jens Kruger and Uwe Kruger later moved to Wilkes County. The music of Doc Watson, Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe is among their influences. Joel Landsberg plays bass and sings vocals.
Tickets for the concert are $100 per person, with $65 of it tax deductible. To purchase a ticket, please send a check to The Free Clinics, 841 Case Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792 or call 697- 8422. Tickets will not be available at the event.
