New restaurant offers variety menu

A new restaurant on Asheville Highway will serve both Mexican and Italian fare when it opens this fall.

"It's a family operation," said Alberto Quintero. The two menu offerings will be separate — "no mix," he said. A chef from a golf club restaurant is coming on board and Quintero is hiring family members who are experienced in Mexican food.
"I'm going to tell you something," he said. "These guys can really cook. All I can say is that we're going to try to be competitive. That's all I can say about price."
Last operated as Jimmy's Barbecue, the 3,500-square-foot building constructed in 1965 has housed a variety of restaurants.
Quintero and his crew have gutted the interior and are working on renovations before opening, he hopes by late October. The restaurant will serve beer, wine and mixed drinks and will offer a Sunday brunch. Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
"We're going to try our best to meet the people's demands and hopefully they like it," Quintero said.
