Board authorizes Dana Park work

The Henderson County Board of Commissioners authorized a contract of $94,833 for Allison Contractors for the phase one improvements for Dana Park including grading, walking trails and a parking lot.
Bids ranged as high as $158,832, by Fletcher Grading, and even alternate items of paving, contingency and survey, design and permitting, the total recommended contract of $165,000 came in under the $200,000 the commissioners allocated for the current budget year.
The contractor will start grading the park to fix drainage problems and lay out the walking trail and parking lot this fall, said Parks and Recreation Director Tim Hopkin. Paving of the trail and parking lot will likely wait until spring.
